Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

INTERNET CONNECTION SPEED AND GOOGLE MEET

Do you know if my (teacher) internet connection affects the students' internet connection in Google Meet? For example, if I held Google Meets from my classroom (with a fast internet connection) verses my home (slower internet connection) will this have any affect on the kids ability to have a strong Google Meet connection?

No. Your internet connection speed as a presenter in Google Meet does not have any effect on your students' connection speed to the internet. They are using a connection geographically different than yours. Visulaize a higyway with many on-ramps. You are entering the roadway from your neighborhood.  They are entering the roadway from a distant neighborhood often with a different service provider. See Troubleshooting Google Meet    and Chromebooks > Disable Grid

The most common student issue with attending Google Classroom sessions or Google Meet sessions is the student having too many apps or Browser windows open at once. Advise your students to only have the Google Classtoom window or the Google Meet window open during classtime.

HOW DO I RESET MY DEFAULT APPS ON CHROMEBOOK

On my chromebook, I had a window pop up that said always open in Drive or chrome-something like that. I pressed Drive I think and forgot to unmark the box that says always remember my choice. Now when I open my drive, I don't like the set up. I want to get it back the way it was. How do I do that? Resetting Default Chromebook Apps

STUDENT CANNOT CREATE GOOGLE MEET. IS THIS A CHROMEBOOK ISSUE?

My student is saying he cannot access his Google meet link when wanting to join his Google Classroom links. It's saying "You can't create a meeting yourself. Contact your system administrator for more information."   Is there anything I need to do on my end? Or is it a chromebook issue?

No. The student is supposed to be joining your classroom Meet - not creating a meeting on their own.  Know what you are looking at, and if necessary, request more teacher training.
